Each event will meet once each week. Event practices are scheduled Wednesdays at 3:45 and 4:45.
Several of the "build" and the Compute This! event may meet at locations and times other than BMS at 3:45.
Team Meetings: Team meetings are held each Wednesday afternoon. New and/or important information is given at the meetings, andy problems that may arise are discussed and solved with student input, motivational speakers well be invited throughout the years, "fun" activities will be planned, and event progress will be reviewed. All Team Members MUST attend the Wednesday Team Meetings. Parents are invited to attend the team meetings if they wish.
At event practice, coaches will teach the material that students will need to know for competition. Students will be tested throughout the year in order to determine student rankings. Students who rank highest throughout the year in the majority of their events will be chosen for the competition team(s).
Students may also be given material to take home for study, as well as certain web sites to visit, to help prepare them for their events.
As tournament time approaches (January and February), Saturday morning event practices may be scheduled.
It is important that we have adequate numbers of students in each event - our desire would be to have from five to eight students in each event. If some events have large numbers of students, some students may be asked to change to an event that has a small number of students.
Our goal is to take the students to high school and college level in knowledge of their events. This is why our team has been successful during the past 22 years.
It is vitally important that students attend all event practices and team meetings. If it is necessary for a student to miss an event practice, please notify the coach prior to the event practice.
